On June 21st, we attended “The Longest Day” event at Residences at Thomas Circle — a full day of activities with the purpose of raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s Association.
The Longest Day is all about love. Love for all those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. On the summer solstice, team up with the Alzheimer’s Association and select any activity you love — or an activity loved by those affected — to help end Alzheimer’s. Together, we will raise funds and awareness for care and support while advancing research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
As a partner with Residences at Thomas Circle for many years, and with an office on-site in the community, Lifematters was proud to be an active participant in their “Longest Day” activities and to sponsor a table at the resource fair. We work with many clients and families that are affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and have enthusiastically joined the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
Kara Genderson, LCSW-C, C-ASCM, a Lifematters Care Manager, provided an expert presentation and subsequent discussion on “Dementia 101,” including different types of dementia, challenging behaviors and disease progression, and care techniques and self-care for family caregivers.
